4 Month Dr Appointment
“Extra, extra read all about it!
The stats are in for baby boy Declan Smith”
Weight: 16p 6oz (3p in one month!)
Height: 26 in
Putting him in the 75% in height, weight and head circumference, our little dude is perfectly proportioned. I didn’t need no stinkin doctor to tell me that ;)
He has a little eczema on his elbow and his cradle cap is getting worse, no need worry about either.
He is lactose and soy intolerant. We already knew that but, we finally got confirmation from the Doc.
He has reached all of his developmental milestones and was flirting with Dr Hahn. He was smiling and cooing at her until she checked his ears, that made him a little upset.
The only thing he isn’t doing is, well, much of anything when he is on his belly. He made a liar out of mommy by hanging out quite contently on his belly while the Doc checked him out. He is holding his head well but she wants him to be able to roll over so I need to put him on his tummy more. I am now committed to a few tummy times through out the day to help move that one along.
He is reaching out grabbing things and shoving everything into his curious little mouth. Oh, the horror, I do not look forward to the things my little boy is going to taste.
As for his reflux, he has good days and bad days. Today was a bad one, every time he ate he would spit up large quantities until he needed more food to replace what he had lost. Eating small amounts and sitting up a lot has helped, being able to easily distract him has made this possible. Not so sure how much the Zantac is helping though. The doctor said reflux usually goes away between 4 & 6 months, I can’t wait!
We are still waiting until 6 months to start immunizations. I, on the other hand, am going to get the flu shot to help keep him well this winter :)

2 second giggle. He usually gets distracted by any recording device and stops as soon as we try to record it.

Spazzing, declan gets nuts in the tub.

He now splashes water in his eyes causing bathtime to be very upsetting.

Cloth Diapers
I have been using prefolds and wraps for about 3 weeks now and have decided that it is a lot easier then people think. I am taking it slowly, at this point we are using cloth during the day when we are at home. While out of the house and at night I am still using disposable. So, at this point, I am only doing one extra load of laundry every other day, that isn't very much extra water consumption.
The best part is approx. 2190 diapers a year are not going into a landfill and $876 is staying in our wallets.
Getting started is easy! I bought a dozen prefolds for $20 and 2 wraps at $12.95 a piece, we already had a couple wraps and pocket diapers that were gifts.
I am so tired! I have taken to staying up for a couple hours after Declan goes to bed just so I can have some me time. Tonight I deyed my hair, made my first bundt cake and I sewed a really cute burp cloth.

Bumbo
Oops, did I do that.
I have discovered an amazing thing about the bumbo, it allows Deco to fart to his little hearts content. It relieves many painful gas bubbles and eliminates many tears. Everything does come with a price though, he usually looses his stomach contents with in about 5-10 minutes.
