Holy Chocolate Chips Batman!

These are seriously the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Fallow the recipe EXACTLY don’t make any alterations. Cook for only 10 minutes, not a second longer, even if you don’t think they look done, they are. I made the mistake last time and cooked for an additional 2 minutes and over cooked them.

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.

3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

21 week pics

Holy cow! I am packing on the pounds! I am going to have a lot of work to do after this boy is done with me.

21 weeks and 3 days

We have inernet again!! We switch providers and have been waiting forever for the new modem to arrive.

Wow, it seems like so much has happened over the last week or so. I have been incedibley busy. I go to school Monday, Wednesday, Friday and sometimes Saturday. I work on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That leaves me one day of peace, Sundays, I charish my day off. I realized I had been doing too much and pushing myself too hard when I had a contraction at work about 5 days ago. I have been continuing to get them randomly throughout the day since then. I talked to the nurse today and she told me to keep an eye on them and to call immediately if I have more than four in one hour, if I don’t feel baby moving at all, start spotting or leaking fluid. I am supposed to take it easy at work and, if I can, lay down when I feel one come on. What I think I am going to do, is take advantage of the FMLA and cut my hours back without losing my benefits. I will be able to work more hours again after this term is over since I can’t go in spring because I am due before the end of the term.
Declan (deck-lan) is such an active little monster, I love it! He spends a good part of each day beating around in mommy’s tummy. He likes to kick me in the same spots all the time. I wonder if he is switching positions much? Shane even gets to feel the big ones! I love being able to share them with him. The man doesn’t get to experience much of the pregnancy so it makes me really happy that he can touch and feel our child moving around. I don’t think I have ever been so excited to meet anyone! Our little Declan.
I bought my first baby items today! (1/26) a cute little brown striped polo shirt with matching pants from Target and a light blue romper and a navy hoody from school both with PCC logos on them. I am a lover of clearance items, I only spent a total of $15.

20 week pics

20 weeks 1 day

Wow our little guy is becoming such a wiggle worm! I only felt him a couple times all day and then from about 5:15-6:30 this evening it was nonstop action. I am still feeling the occasional twitch. Pregnancy hormones and cravings are in full swing. I adore anything chocolate. Today it’s been chocolate pudding, homemade instant pudding to be exact.

I have decided how I am going to decorate the nursery it is going to be green and brown earth tones with a slight Asian inspiration and white furniture. I haven’t picked out the exact wall colors but it is going to be two toned with a light color on the upper 2/3 and a dark color on the lower 1/3. We are going to use a chair rail separating the two. I have made a rough floor design of how the furniture is going to be organized.

I was looking on craigslist.org today and found some great deals on used baby items. I am looking for a used dresser, changing table, nightstand and shelving unit. I am going to buy the crib new from Ikea, I think. The height of Ikea cribs are perfect for women, like me, who are on the short side, I will be able to put the baby down with out having to worry about lowering a bar. I would really like to purchase these items one at a time when I have the money but the fact that Jason is still living in our baby’s room makes it impossible. Our house is way to small to be storing things like that. I need that room like yesterday, because the painting and decorating is going to take me a long time to fit into me busy schedule. Due to work and school for the next two months I am only going to have one a day a week off.

I am working on my registry at Target www.target.com/registry/baby/3E4SWT76S12VA/guestview (cut and paste) I am sure I have way to many clothing items listed but Shane and I are particular about the style of clothing baby will be dressed in. Hopefully the items shown will give a good idea of what type of gifts we will like.

My sister gave me a large number of hand me downs including two trash bags full of cloths, a large bag of infant toys, an infant bathtub, a changing pad and a boppy. How awesome is that!

I am trying to make arrangements for my baby shower, so nobody make plans for the weekend of March 29th. I know it’s a bit early but our schedules are so busy that is one of the only weekends we will have available before baby’s birth.

Now that I can feel him kicking and know that I have a sweet little boy growing inside me, everything suddenly seems so real. I am just so frickin happy. I have always pictured myself with a boy and thanks to Shane, we are going to experience the joys of raising one.

19 weeks 4 days

Today in lecture our little one was kicking the crap outta me. It was AWESOME!! It was the most consecutive amount of kicks I have ever experienced. I had this big smile on my face and I am sure my professor was wondering what I was so happy about, he kept looking at me.
Last night was my first night of tossing, turning and constant waking. I suppose I should get used to it, I am going to have many, many more sleepless nights for the next year, at least.
OMG! I can’t wait for Friday. I came to terms with the fact that I might be having a girl and now I am really excited about the idea of having one. At this point, I really don’t care if our baby is a boy or a girl, I just can’t wait to find out.

19 week Belly Pics

19 weeks 2 days!

Holy Crap! We are almost halfway. This has been a rather uneventful week so far. I went out for the first time since being pregnant last night. I watched a band play and enjoy laughs over faux drinks. Tonic water with a lemon and a lime make for a great fake.
My belly is beginning to pop. I am carrying different now, it's so weird. I think I can feel baby kicking every once and a while. I am still unsure about it though.
My emotions are starting to run high so little things can make me cry really hard. Like a show on gorilla's I saw yesterday or the ASPCA commercial with all the sad cat and dog faces.

Our 20 weeks appt is on Friday!

What's it gonna be? Mini me or Mini he?

I want you to guess!

18 weeks 5 days

As of today I have officially started nesting. I bought a ton of storage solution stuff (bins, baskets, mini chests of drawers etc) a new, much larger bathroom corner shelf, a four tiered closet shelf and a new bookcase/entertainment center. I am happy to say that I found all of these items for under $150. I pride myself on tasteful bargain shopping; everything matches my new décor.
Tomorrow, my day will be filled with cleaning and organizing. I can’t wait!

Week 18 Pics

Weeks 17 and 18

Well the 17th to 18th weeks were great we spent time with family in Oklahoma and Texas. I think I feel the baby kicking from time to time but it’s so hard to tell. It sometimes reminds of what it feels like when your tummy growls. The last three days I have been hungry non-stop. After I eat a small amount I am full but like an hour later I am ready for more. My sweet tooth is acting up I have been craving doughnuts all the time, thank god I have only had one.
My sciatica is acting up and the pain is constant most days. I have taken to a very awkward walk that lessens the pain but probably gives me the appearance of a duck. I no longer have any morning sickness (YEA!) I do, however, have heartburn a lot. Something about Oklahoma, maybe all the dairy I ate, caused me to only suffer from heartburn once the entire time I was there. Texas, on the other hand, was a constant three days of it.
Well, we only have 8 days until we find out the sex! I am so excited. Shane and I still both really like Declan for a boy, which is, coincidently Elvis Costello’s birth name. I like Declan Philip Donald Smith, since I have three middle names two does not seem out of the ordinary to me. We have decided against Piper due to the fact that everyone said “oh like Piper Palin”. I despise that women and do not want a name that is going to be associated with her.
I am going to get online and look up nursery ideas today. I am going to use neutral colors on the walls so I can get the part figured out at least. I have also decided that the crib bedding is going to be very plain, I don’t want to design a room around crib set theme.
I sent out emails to 6 different Bradley Method birthing instructors. The classes are 12 weeks long so I need to be enrolled and starting by 26 weeks to ensure it has been completed before the babies birth. A natural drug free birth is the most important thing to me. No medicine, including an epidural has been proven safe for baby. The epidural, in fact, drugs the baby. I want a fully aware un-drugged baby at birth! I don’t care how much pain I am in my baby is worth it! I have also decided to stop taking Tylenol and to go to physical therapy for my back pain instead.
